Top 10 12 favorite Moulin Rouge scenes - Part 1

If Tumblr had been around when I was in middle school and MouRou came out, I think I would have spontaneously combusted. I would have just sat and stared at gifs forever.

Oh wait … I’m still doing that 10 years later.

Christian/SatineMoulin Rouge

Oh my gosh. Without going into a tl;dr life story, this film changed my life and the biggest reason for that is Christian/Satine. I was barely 14 when I first saw Moulin Rouge and I don’t think I had ever really seen a tragic love story before. Certainly none that moved me as much. I walked out of that theatre speechless, having cried at a movie for the first time in my life (until that point I always made fun of people who cried at movies — now I’m the sappiest motherfucker out there who cries at commercials, for God’s sakes).
For a bohemian poet and a high-class prostitute, Christian and Satine have a rather pure and innocent kind of love. He doesn’t want to own her or use her for his own desires like every other man she encounters, nor does she take advantage of his naivete and innocence. I suppose that’s the beauty of them both being penniless… take away all of the money, power, and mind games that come with them and all you’re left with is love.
(I told you I was a sappy mofo.)
(Also, if anyone wants to reblog this, feel free to remove my ramblings.)

Pshh, these ramblings are the best ramblings ;) And just, in general, THIS.
